Math4VIP – Making Mathematics Accessible

STEM degree programs pose particular challenges for students with visual impairments: formulas and graphics are typically designed for visual presentation and are difficult or impossible to access. Professional support for creating accessible mathematical materials is rarely available at most universities. As a result, students often depend on personal assistance, which they must organize and guide themselves – negatively affecting their academic success.

Math4VIP addresses this challenge by building a centralized platform that provides students with visual impairments access to accessible mathematical materials across universities. In addition, the project develops standards, prepares guidelines, produces materials, and promotes awareness through targeted public outreach.
